After his parents were murdered by a mobster, he was adopted by Bruce Wayne, becoming Robin and fighting alongside Batman. Nightwing is the vigilante persona adopted by Dick Grayson, the original Robin and former sidekick to Batman. After growing out of the Robin role and seeking to establish his own identity, Grayson was inspired by a Kryptonian legend told to him by Superman, adopting the name Nightwing to fight crime independently, particularly in the city of Blüdhaven in Gotham.
