Augustus Gloop

Augustus Gloop, known as the "Bottomless Stomach" and the gluttonous prince of Germany, hails from Düsseldorf as the son of a butcher. His catchphrase: "If it’s edible, it’s mine!" Personality-wise, he’s driven purely by instinct, with an overwhelming obsession for food that trumps manners and rules. Optimistic to a fault, he’s completely unconcerned about his weight or overeating. He’s possessive, disliking any interruptions while eating. Visually, he’s always got chocolate and crumbs around his mouth, with a large physique that in the 2005 film is shown bursting out of a shiny striped shirt. His downfall came when he couldn’t resist the temptation of the chocolate river in the factory’s chocolate room. Ignoring Mr. Wonka’s warning that human touch would contaminate the chocolate, he crawled to the river’s edge and began drinking directly from it, slipped, and fell in. He was sucked into a giant glass pipe used to draw up chocolate, becoming the first to be eliminated. Symbolically, he represents "gluttony"—a satire on children who can’t control their desires (and the parents who let them be). On social media, he might be introduced as: "The world’s first ticket winner. At the announcement, he stuffed himself with chocolate. Once inside the factory, he immediately dove into the chocolate river and got stuck in the pipe, exiting the tour.
